After graduation from University of Massachusetts and Carnegie-Mellon University, Bob started his professional career in the Silicon Valley. He worked for various companies such as ROLM, IBM, Siemens and Edify. He was part of the original team from Edify developing their self-service, application builder, Edify Electronic Workforce. The company went public in 1998 and was acquired in 1999.
Following the dot-com collapse, Bob took a contract with IBM working for Sprint in Overland Park, Kansas. When the contract was winding down, he found a job as Manager of Software Development at the startup, Ascendent Systems anchored in San Jose and Sherman Oaks, California. Ascendent was later acquired by Research In Motion to provide the enterprise server application, Mobile Voice Server (MVS). Bob managed the team of twelve developers and traveled between the California locations and Waterloo, Ontario to integrate product roadmaps with the BlackBerry handset and BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES).
In May 2008, Bob left Research In Motion to be closer to his family back in Kansas and joined Garmin International where he is currently a Mobile Applications Developer on the nüvifone product line.
Throughout this variety of server- and client-based product development, Bob has kept a keen interest in content integration for mobile users. Cloud computed aggregation of data to enhance the user’s experience.
