A special thanks to the Captain and
crew of the Californian
At this writing, we are still basking in the glow of our experience
aboard the Californian.
As these short term memories fade, we will continue to remember the
special kindnesses shown us by the Captain and crew. We came
aboard to sail, and sail we did! But more important are the
friendships we made among the crew and passengers and the experiences we
shared.
To Chris, Shirley and Chuck, thank you for your leadership. There
was never any doubt about our safety or that we were doing what the Californian was meant to do - plying
the seas in search of adventure and knowledge.
To Kelli and the JWOs: Ray, Tim and Bob, thank you for generously
sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for sailing on tallships.
The skills you imparted to us aren't learned from books or watching TV
but from doing.
To the volunteer crew "Boats" George, David, Barry, Susan, Jim, and
Larry thank you for making the trip possible. Without you and your
hard work before and during the trip, we would not have had a Californian to sail on.
And to Marge, a special thank you for your hard work and long days in
the galley. Morning, noon and night, your meals kept the
passengers and crew fueled up and ready to go. Thank you!
A resounding "huzzah" to you all!
