The main purpose of spending some time
in Galway was to be able to go to the
Aran Islands, specifically
Inishmore, the largest of the three islands. While on Inishmore,
we took in the main attraction, Dunaengus, a stone fort built beginning
a few centuries BC. It consists of three concentric rings and
backs on a 300 foot high sheer cliff above the Atlantic. This is a
picture of Dunaengus from the approach road near the visitor's center.
