Our first opportunity to climb China's Great Wall was at a location where the
wall was in its natural state - it hadn't been reconstructed.   Most of us hiked
up the wall about a mile to a spot were we could overlook the wall as it
climbed over the next hill.  Here is one of the observation and signal towers
on the wall.
