Principal's Report (M. Bachicha)
Mr. Bachicha reported that Farallone View officially qualified for the reward from the state based on the API test score improvement last spring (FV was 781).  The exact amount has not been announced -- it may be based on ADA enrollment as originally proposed, or on the number of students who took the tests.  The amount per student, originally announced at $150, may drop as low as $65. The money will be awarded in March or April.

He noted that as our demographics are changing, with a greater percentage of ELL (English Language Learners) students, the test scores may plateau.  The goal will be 5% difference between overall score and 800, with a growth target of 1 (19).

The SDAC (School District Advisory Council) met last month and heard a report on how technology is used in the district schools.  The proposed middle school construction will be on the agenda of the Coastal Commission in February, though supporters of the project will try to express their support at the open Forum of the meeting in San Francisco this month.

The next SDAC meeting will be Thursday, February 1, from 7 - 9 pm in the District Office.

Tech Committee's Report (B. Strom)
Bill reported that 20 more computers are almost ready to go into classrooms.  The math software is up and running.    The committee sees several pressing technology needs at FV:
  1. Need network switches, as we have only one currently .
  2. Need a network printer (industrial level), as classroom printers are overloaded. This could potentially help cut down copying needs.
  3. Need a multimedia projector to more fully access the computer for all students in class.
  4. Digital camera.
GATE Report (M. Bachicha)
The Chess class begins in January, with Eric Schiller.  There will be an informational meeting in January.

PTA Report (M. Bachicha)    There was no meeting in December, so nothing to report.

Ed Fund Report (B. Strom & Donna McCurdy)
The Ed Fund met Dec. 12.  They are planning for the Silent Auction/Talent Show to be held in March.  They need donations, especially from local restaurants and businesses.  There will be another Kid's Night Out on Jan. 13. Liz Murphy got a grant from Philanthropic Ventures for 4 microscopes.

Open Forum: No Open Forum items.

Budget Review (M. Bachicha)
Mr. Bachicha reported on his meeting with Diane Stupi at D.O. The discrepancies were cleared up (re Ms. Carkeek’s salary and the Ed Fund's purchase of a computer, both charged to the Site Council).  The District has now set up a separate account for the PTA to handle Ms. Carkeek, Ms. Hitchner and other enrichment teachers.

The unallocated funds for this year are as follows:

$11,359.00 Site Block Grant 2000-2001
$  1,188.00 carryover of Site Block Grant 1999-2000
$11,941.60 School Improvement Plan (SIP) funds 2000-2001
$  1,412.24 carryover of SIP 1999-2000
========
$25,900.84 total unallocated funds for 2000-2001

Cost of Needs described in Site Action Plan (M. Bachicha)
The Cost of Needs was presented, in order as prioritized by the teachers. The Reading Recovery program, though rated very highly, cannot be expanded this year due to contractual agreements, and the high cost (would need $40,000 to fund a whole day of the teacher.)   He noted that some of the costs for furniture may come out of overhead,
R.U. or some items could be reclaimed from discarded furniture in the District warehouse.

Allocation of Funds  (B. Strom)
After discussion, the Site Council voted on and approved by majority vote the following allocations:
