GATE Report

The Site Council received a report on the GATE program for this year.  Results from a survey of students and parents were discussed.  Chess and Watch-Your-Language were the top 2 liked sessions among the kids.  Parent assessments will be presented next time.  The GATE committee met to discuss the GATE Mission and Goals and Objectives.  A draft list of ideas for next year has been put together.  More focus on science and art are planned.  Last year there was a focus on Language arts.  The current GATE group would like to propose that next year the Site Council lend support when possible to GATE to help augment a dwindling budget.

SDAC Report

The next meeting will focus on the Tech Plan alignment between the elementary schools and Cunha.

Tech Report

A great software wish list was presented and the benefits of several of the programs were discussed.

Principal's Report

Testing is done.  We sent them off.  4 students opted out by note.  9 are exempted.  3 others didn't take it.  1 didn't complete it.  This represents a greater than 95% tested rate.

Mike talked to Ted Lempert.  He thanked him for his support of the coastside.  Ted said that he gets lots of letters from the coastside on various issues.

The summer school students list to go out soon.  About 140 students will be attending as part of the retention / promotion process.  There is no elective summer school offered this year.

41 kindergarten students have enrolled to date.  That represents 2 K/1's and 2 K's.

Acknowledge donation from BACK TO BASICS:

We need to send them a list of what we spent the money on and thank them.

Election Committee

No volunteers for site council.  We will delay to Back to School night like last year (September 19th).  A proposal was made to summarize the budget in the next newsletter.  Mike agreed to put this together.

Site Plan Revisions

Mike included the items we uncovered in the teacher survey and will bring a hard copy next time.

Budget Discussion

Mike will bring an official hardcopy for us to approve next time.
