Call to Order at 612 pm. Quorum established. Minutes of May meeting
approved.

Principal's Report Mike Bachicha
There will be some staff changes for next year. Teachers Donna Ashcroft and
Maria Murphy are moving out of state, Kelly Farnsworth has accepted a position at Cunha Middle School, Sarah Smith will be on sabbatical for one year in Florida (observing the use of technology and how to integrate it into curriculum), and Shannon Cahill will be leaving to have a baby. As a result, there will be some positions filled and some changes in grade assignment. Several resumes have been submitted to the school.

The fifth grade promotion ceremony will be tomorrow, with a barbecue for parents, students and staff.

Technology Committee Bill Strom
Tom Ferenz has been going through all available equipment to assess. He
recommends that any future donations be accepted ONLY if the equipment is working, i.e. able to boot up.

GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Committee Mike Bachicha
Rachael Gershenson will be the parent on the GATE committee for next
year. Once results from the SOI test are back, Mike, Rachael and teacher Pamela Teige will meet to plan next year's programs, based on the approved plan, which will include chess, poetry and science.

PTA Mike Bachicha
Pat Davison will be the president for PTA next year. The PTA will continue
to fund the art, music and science enrichment programs. Liz Murphy of the Ed Fund wrote a successful grant for $4,000 to fund a 3-D component for Susan Carkeek's art program for next year.

Ed Fund Bill Strom & Donna McCurdy
The Ed Fund will continue to fund the 5 aide positions for the 4th & 5th
grade classes, though they will streamline the calendar based on a survey of teachers' need, starting the aides a little later into the school year. The Silent Auction fundraiser will be held in February at the Bach Dynamite Society in Miramar. The Talent Show will take place separately in March.

SDAC (Superintendent's District Advisory Council) Stacey Fitting
As reported in the newsletter, at the SDAC meeting on June 1, Superintendent
John Bayless discussed the modernization projects taking place at Cunha Middle School over the summer, the Noyce Foundation sponsorship of "Every Child a Reader" at our elementary schools in the coming year, and the budget for Cabrillo district. Dr. Bayless noted that our required expenses continue to rise as our funding decreases and that this will impact every school unless alternative funding is found. The next SDAC meeting, which is open to the public, will be held on Sept. 21 from 130 to 330 at the District Office on Kelly Avenue in HMB.

Election Committee Stacey Fitting
Pete Zell and John DiNapoli were elected by parents at Open House to serve as
the parent representatives to Site Council for 2 year terms. Stacey noted that this still leaves 1 position open, as well as the alternative member position open. The Election Committee will meet before school starts in order to set up another election to fill these vacancies at Back to School Night in September.

Science and Arts Action Plan Mike Bachicha
Principal Bachicha discussed the Science and Arts action plan. He asked for
volunteers to participate in the PQR/Site Plan workshop in the fall Stacey Fitting volunteered.

Allocation Priorities Mike Bachicha
Principal Bachicha reported that our budget will be tight next year.
His R.U. fund will be down due to power costs and the projected district deficit. This will impact money for teacher supplies. He opened a discussion of the classified employee salaries funded by Site Council and noted that the school board continues to question the use of Site budget for this. It was suggested that the use of the copying clerk by the parent groups be assessed, with an eye toward passing on some costs to their budgets. San Mateo County is in the process of assessing recreational needs on the coast. The County would prefer to augment existing sites where possible, which may mean some upgraded facilities at Farallone View.

Allocations for Technology
The discussion of allocations for technology is carried over to the next meeting, pending more information on printers.
The next Site Council meeting will be September 19, at 6 pm. On the agenda will be Review Allocations, Review PQR procedures, Set Calendar, Allocations for Technology, and reports by Election, GATE, Tech, and other committees.

Meeting adjourned at 755 pm.
