Call to Order  6:15 pm.  No quorum established.
Review Agenda: Agenda reviewed.

Tech Committee Report (B. Strom)  The multimedia projector has been purchased (on order) for approximately $3,000.  The additional $500 was provided by the Juliette Havel Memorial Fund.  Bill reported that purchase of more memory was a priority.

GATE Committee (M. Bachicha)  The GATE program is in compliance according to Allan Cass and is approved for the next 2 years.

PTA Report (M. Bachicha)  The March meeting was cancelled.  Superintendent John Bayless will be speaking at the April 3 meeting.

Ed Fund (B. Strom)   The Silent Auction profits seem to be down, both from last year (about $13,000) and from the goal of $18,000 - the rough estimate is about $10,000.  The raffle made $900 and the In-N-Out burgers about $500.

The next Kids Night Out will be April 21.  They need 5 or 6 adult helpers to handle the maximum of 40 kids.

SDAC Report - No meeting until April.

Open Forum   Jill McLellan suggested that the extra computers could be  donated to the Active Learning Center, which needs computers for use during the after-school daycare.

Nominating Committee (S. Fitting)  Stacey outlined the schedule for the election notices and will track those.  2 or 3 possible recruits have come forward.  Any interested parties will be invited to our April meeting.  Candidates’ statements will be due in to Principal Bachicha by May 11.

Projected API Award Allocations (M. Bachicha)  Still no word on API allocations. Due to the state energy crisis, there may be further reductions to the awards.

Principal’s Report (M. Bachicha)
Mike reported on the Asilomar conference on Standards & Accountability.  Speaker Delaine Easton noted that in a national study by Rand, there was a direct correlation between student achievement and per pupil expenditure.  The states that spent the most per student, showed the highest achievement per student.   Speaker Doug Reeves discussed the findings that more time spent with student writing, that all test scores -- including math and
science -- improved, as it develops application of reasoning skills.

Math Action Plan (M. Bachicha)  Mike discussed the one weakness identified in the analysis of the site plan last year, addressed by the purchase and use of the Cornerstone Math software.

The school will adopt a new math curriculum next year.  The staff is analyzing the program currently used and will pilot one of 7 state-approved curriculum next year.

Site Plan Focus Areas 2001-2002 (M. Bachicha)

Farallone View will undergo Program Quality Review (PQR) next year, in which we will analyze our current Site Plan and revise or develop a new plan.

CUSD (Cabrillo Unified School District) will be focusing on writing throughout all the schools.  Farallone View has begun that process with the Anne Diskin/ Writer’s Workshop staff training.

Mike will provide a draft of the Site Plan Focus Areas for the April meeting.

Complete 2000 - 2001 Site Budget   Principal Mike Bachicha reviewed the Site allocations and expenditures, including a reduction in translation expenses due to a web translation site.

Bill Strom expressed concern that the Site Council has not met the level of expenditures for technology, as laid out in 1999-2000 in discussion with the Ed Fund.  The exact decision by the Site Council was not available at this meeting.
