Email Software Configuration

Netscape Communicator (Version 4.5-5.x) Email Configuration

  • Go to the "Edit" Menu and "Select Preferences."


  1. Find "Mail & Newsgroups" on the lefthand side. If you do not see the subcatagories (starting with "Identity") then double click on "Mail & Newsgroups" to display them.
  2. Click "Identity", located on the lefthand side. Enter Your Name and Email address into the appropriate boxes.


  1. Click "Mail Servers", located on the lefthand side.
  2. Click the "Add" button, located on the top righthand side. (If there is already a mail server listed you will have to use the "Edit" button instead.)


  1. Enter "mail.coastside.net" into the "Server Name:" field.
  2. Select "POP3 Server" from the "Server Type:" menu.
  3. Enter your username into the "User Name:" field.
  4. If you wish to have your password saved click the "Save password" checkbox.
  5. Click "Ok" to close the window.


  6. Enter "smtp.coastside.net" into the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:" field.
  7. The "Outgoing mail server user name" can be left blank or as "default."
  8. Click on "OK" to close the preferences window and save changes.
