This documentation is valid assuming the following:
     1. The computer meets the minimum requirements.
     2. The computer has a working Ethernet interface card. (NIC).
     3. You may need your Windows CD-Rom to complete this setup.

Step 1. Go to the Start Menu, Select Settings and then Control Panel.

Step 2. Double-click the Network control panel.

Step 3. The following components should be installed:
   A. Your ethernet adapter (ie: Kingston 10/100 Ethernet Card)
   B. The TCP/IP protocol, bound to your ethernet adapter (ie: TCP/IP -> Kingston 10/100 Ethernet Card)

If your ethernet card is not listed then you need to reinstall it. Consult the "Self-Install" instructions, or the manual that came with the ethernet card.

If "TCP/IP" for your ethernet card is not listed follow these steps to add it:
   A. Click on the Add button.
   B. Double-click Protocol.
   C. Select Microsoft from the Manufacturers list (left side) and then select TCP/IP from the Network Protocols list (right side).
   D. Click Ok to add.
   E. You may be prompted to restart your computer. If so, restart the computer and then repeat steps 1 thru 3.

Addition items, such as Dial-Up Adapter or Client for Microsoft Networks may be listed in the Network control panel. They are not required for your DSL Internet Service, but may be used by other programs on your computer.

Step 4. Double-click the TCP/IP that is bound to your ethernet card (ie: TCP/IP -> Kingston 10/100 Ethernet Card).

Step 5. Select the IP Address tab, then select the Specify an IP Address option. Enter your IP Address and Subnet Mask into the appropriate boxes.

Step 6. Select the Gateway tab, then enter the Gateway Address into the New Gateway field and click the Add button. Your Gateway Address should be the only address listed in the Installed Gateways box.

Step 7. Select the DNS Configuration tab, then select the Enable DNS option. Enter your Username into the Host box and enter coastside.net into the Domain box.

Step 8. Enter the Primary DNS Server into the DNS Server Search Order box and then click the Add button. Enter the Secondary DNS Server into the DNS Server Search Order box and click the Add button again.

Security Reommendation: We recommend that you disable File and Print sharing with the TCP/IP protocol. If you take this precaution then your files or printers cannot be misused by people on the Internet. If you require File and Print sharing on your local network, we recommend you install the NetBEUI protocol and enable File and Print sharing on that protocol instead.

To disable File and Print sharing via TCP/IP (the Internet) do the following:
Step 1. Select the Bindings tab.
Step 2. If File and Printer sharing is present in this box we recommend that you uncheck this option.

Step 9. Click the OK button at the bottom of the TCP/IP Properties window to save these changes. You will be prompted to Restart your computer, click Yes to restart.

Step 10. After you computer restarts go to the Start Menu, Select Settings and then Control Panel.

Step 11. Open the Internet Options Control Panel. (This control may just be called Internet on some computers).

Step 12. Select the Connect tab, then select the Dial whenever a network connection is not present option. If you do not have any Dial-Up profiles configured then you can skip this step (the connect options will be greyed-out).

Step 13. Click OK to save these changes.
